Celeb-spotting in Miami

From famous to famous-for-no-reason, Miami got a dose of the celeb set both A-list and D-list this past week

BERRY NICE: Halle Berry was in town sporting a new ‘do, her tot Nahla and her hot baby daddy Gabriel Aubrey this past week. On more than one occasion, the whole fam had fun in the sun, wading in the water. Berry, like Beyonce of the week before, skipped out on a swimsuit and jumped in wearing a red dress. Who put the kibosh on bikinis? Maybe modesty is the newest summer trend.

SOCIAL DISCRACE: Bravo’s new reality show, Miami Social, doesn’t debut until next week, but the series is already getting no love from, well, anyone. Scene in the Tropics reports bloggers calling the program, “the worst show Bravo has ever aired.” Up next, the Kardashian disaster on E! What we lack in acting abilities we make up for in humidity.

PARIS’ PLEDGE: In other disastrous-things-filmed-in-Miami news, Paris Hilton’s flop Pledge This landed the heiress in Miami court Thursday and Friday. She could face more than $8 million dollars in fines for failing to promote the flick. On top of being one of the worst movies ever (Is that the new requirement for filming in SoFla?), the movie has now been linked to a ponzi scheme. INF Daily shows pics of the celebutant walking into the courthouse on Thursday in a black and white number, hair extensions and black shades. All that’s missing is the thought bubble where she contemplates using the baby voice or her more masculine tone to sway the jury.

GLORY DAYS: If you’re looking to land yourself a former athlete, head over to Sole. The South Florida spot is turning out to be quite the pro-player place on Sunday afternoons. A few weeks ago former b-baller Dennis Rodman behaved like a grown-up at the hotel. And this past week former New York Jets linebacker Marvin Jones, former Cincinnati Bengals running back Rudi Johnson and former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress made a date of hanging out poolside at the Recoup Sundays party. The drinks were flowing and the pops were flashing, as the athletes made it a point to pose whenever someone asked for a pic. With all the players in the mix, we wouldn’t be surprised if a Gatorade-flavored alcoholic beverage shows up on the menu in the very near future.
