Here’s where to go and what to do this Fourth of July

Bust out the sparklers and M-80s (shhh, we won’t tell), the fourth is almost here. It’s time to forget about this recession and party like a bunch of disenchanted Europeans who just got their own country.
STARS AND RACING STRIPES: If you’re feeling patriotic first thing in the morning, head to Tamiami Park at 7 a.m. for the BlueCross BlueShield of Florida’s 2009 5K Run. Think of it as pre-working off all those beers you’re sure to have later on tonight.
GOOD OLD DAYS: What would the Fourth be without a picnic? The Barnacle Society is kicking it old school with hot dogs and popcorn and a scavenger hunt for the kiddies from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Key Biscayne is planning a parade near Crandon Boulevard at 11 a.m. with music, magic and more to follow afterward.
Bayfront Park gets funky for the Fourth with live music starting at 3 p.m.
Palmer Park gives the good old US of A a sweet celebration with face painting, food and festivities starting at 5 p.m.
Grab your cooler, beach chair and flip-flops and head to Eighth Street and Ocean Drive in Miami Beach and celebrate your independence for the annual Fourth of July festivities under the sun.
FIREWORK FIESTAS: Here’s where to go to watch your tax dollars go up in smoke—literally. Coconut Grove dazzles at Peacock Park starting at 9 p.m. Expect a show that will make you oooohh and ahhhh.
Key Biscayne gets poppin’ at sunset on the beach. Don’t forget your favorite lawn chair and refreshments.
See the sky light up at Bayfront Park at 9 p.m. when the city launches fireworks from a barge on Biscayne Bay.
Look up at Palmer Park in South Miami at 9:15 p.m. when the blasts and booms bring bright lights to the sky overhead.
Miami Beach throws its 19th annual Fourth of July bash that starts at 9 p.m. on Eighth Street and Ocean Drive. Hopefully you’ll be able to pry your eyes off the model set long enough to catch what’s going on up there in the sky.
KEEP THE PARTY GOING: Don’t put out your sparklers just yet, there’s plenty to do after the fireworks have fizzled out.
Erik Morillo hits the decks at LIV to give you some background music for your good old American dance moves. The party gets started at 10 p.m.
