JAM SESSION: Do you consider seeing Jerry Garcia perform before he died the best moment of your life? Could you listen to the same song for 20 minutes? Are you stoned at this very moment? Then head to Tobacco Road tonight where local jam band favorites The Heavy Pets will be playing their last show before heading out on tour. 10 P.M.

OUTSIDER LOOKING IN: If you've ever felt like an outsider looking in (we know you have), then you can definitely relate to Cecilia Moreno-Yaghoubi's exhibit, "Girl from Cali," at the Consulate of Colombia in Miami. Her pieces use discarded dolls, toys,  and other recycled items as a foundation for art and address socio-political issues. And nothing goes better with socio-political issues than free booze. Opening reception, 7 P.M.

BEEEER: Want to celebrate Germany? (And by Germany, we mean beer.) Well, the weeklong festival Oktoberfest (which resembles the German tradition), starts today at Fritz & Franz Bierhaus. It features live entertainment by German and Austrian bands, Austrian and Bavarian foods, a bratwurst eating contest, a raffle for a seven-day cruise, and of course, steins filled with the good stuff. The zinger: proceeds benefit Charlee Homes for Children. 11 A.M. 'til late.

HER NAME IS RIO: You know we're always up for a free concert. Especially when it's bands like Rio de Janeiro's own Bossacucanova. They'll be performing as part of a celebration for the Biscayne Boulevard New World Design project by legendary Brazilian designer Roberto Burle Marx. It's a celebration of Brazilian culture at the East Plaza of American Airlines Arena, with an after party at Botequim Carioca. Let' s comemora. 5:30 P.M.
