Music and excitement filled the air as Santa's Enchanted Forest sparked some Star Power for opening night Thursday.
Miami Dolphins star Jason Taylor kicked off the festivities for the 27th anniversary celebration.
As Grand Marshal for the opening night parade Taylor was joined by the Miami Jackson Senior High Marching Band and animal characters from the Charlotte's Web smart stage play at the Broward center for Performing Arts.
The parade ended with the lighting of the ceremonial 92-foot Christmas tree.
"The holiday is always great," said Taylor. "It makes everyone happy. The family comes together and spends more time together."
Taylor also brought a little holiday cheer to some deserving young students. About 50 students were Taylor's special invited guest to hang out in Santa's Miami hideaway. The kids and their families were chosen through the Jason Taylor Reading Room program, a foundation in Miramar.
"It gives them a chance to enjoy the park a little bit and do something that they otherwise wouldn't have the chance to do," Taylor said.
Children of all ages were dazzled by Miami's very own winter wonderland, a magical getaway filled with rides, live animals, and tasty treats for the entire family.
Santa's Enchanted Forest runs through January 3rd, at its regular seasonal site on the corner of Bird Road and the Palmetto Expressway.
Operation hours are from 5 p.m. to midnight, seven days a week. Admission is $23.36 plus tax for adults and $16.36 for children 9 and under and seniors 65 and over. Entrance is free for children 2 and under.
