"Sex and the City" Designer: Miami Vintage Rocks

In Miami, it's all about something old -- and it's not grandma in her Sunny Isles condo

Everything old is new again.

Shopping vintage is one way to go -- if you want to stay unique, but keep trendy.

And get this, "Sex and The City" designer Patricia Field was quoted in the New York Times as saying Miami is her favorite place to shop vintage.

In the case of finding a good vintage store, Aleissa's Collection is a must-stop shop.

The 3 month-old vintage boutique on Coral Way specializes in selling haute couture of all eras, from sparkly sequined dresses and tops from the '20s to flouncy frocks from the '50s to super-sleek '80s gear.

Filling the racks are brands like Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Cavalli and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as lesser known labels.

“My boutique is good for women that want evening wear or a unique accessory,” said owner Aleissa Fernandez. “Girls as young as 10 years old to women in their '60s can find something worth buying here.”

Inside the small shop, which is painted in a bright gold hue, tables are overflowing with belts, jewelry, hats, purses, sunglasses, and pins.

On the floor, find plenty of stilettos and wedges by Ferragamo.

Twice a week Fernandez said new items are available.

You can also make special requests if she doesn’t have what you are looking for.

“I get my merchandise from all over,” said Fernandez. “I go to estate sales, Goodwill shops, Ebay and other vintage shops in Europe."

Items in the store cost anywhere from $2 for a pair of authentic '80s sunglasses to $800 for an alligator purse from the '50s.
