Rumor Mill: Geri Halliwell to Design for Topshop

A little news item posted by Dean Piper at The Mirror yesterday has fashion editors on both sides of the Atlantic buzzing.

Apparently, the editor spotted former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell (a.k.a. "Ginger Spice") walking into the office of Sir Philip Green, the owner of Topshop, for a meeting. The topic of that meeting was, apparently, a new fashion line for women "a little older" than Topshop's typical customer (i.e. tweens).

Sources at Topshop have not yet confirmed the news, though the ladies over at FabSugar did note that the celeb was wearing Topshop at a recent event, so she's both a fan of the label already and possibly already in cahoots.

Whether the rumors are true, it should be noted that not all the fashion editors stateside are too fond of the idea. Unfortunately for Ms. Halliwell, she's made a name for herself, style-wise, that may be a hard stereotype to shake (ridiculous microminis come to mind). She's certainly not as highly regarded here in the U.S. as, say, Kate Moss, and definitely won't have the same pull for consumers.
