Mexican-Americans have been celebrating Mexican Independence Day since Sunday night, where the traditional Grito de Dolores is celebrated in Mexico City.
But in addition to celebrating their independence, Sep. 16 is also known as National Guacamole Day.
Rocco’s Taco’s chef explained how to make the perfect guacamole, using Californian or Mexican avocados.
First he suggested cutting up the avocados, adding salt, fresh lime and smashing it before adding any other ingredients.
“Anything goes with guacamole,” the chef said.
You can add fresh tomatoes, unions, jalapenos and fresh cilantro.
In the end you can also add any special ingredients such as crab meat or red peppers, and celebrate the Mexican Independence Day with a bowl of guacamole!
