#1 Hit Series “El Señor de Los Cielos” (Lord of the Skies) Season 4 Returns to Telemundo

NBC Universal’s Spanish Network Telemundo readies for the launch of season 4 of their hit narco series “El Señor de los Cielos”

Following the success of its first three seasons, Telemundo’s super series “El Señor de los Cielos” (Lord of the Skies) season 4 returns to the small screen next March 28th on Telemundo.

Based on events in the real life of Mexican drug lord Amado Carrillo Fuentes, head of the Juarez cartel of the 80s and 90s, the series follows the fictional character Aurelio Casillas played by actor Rafael Amaya who seems to be really enjoying playing Casillas.

“I love it because of all the things that I can’t do in real life,” Amaya said. “Can you imagine? I drive cool cars around and I play with guns and wear expensive jewelry and clothes.”

Amaya has been playing Casillas for the past three seasons and just last year the series shot season three and season four back-to-back causing Amaya a health set back.

“It was really exhausting we taped the third and fourth season together with no vacations. It was 11-months of hard labor,” said Amaya. “I’m never doing that again! I don’t recommend it because it’s not good for your health.”

The highly acclaimed narco series is an original production of Miami based Telemundo Studios in conjunction with Argos Communications and created by the Venezuelan script writer Luis Zelkowicz.

In 2014 the series was awarded the International Emmy in the category of Best Non-English Language US Primetime Program and last year concluded its third season ranking #1 in its timeslot outperforming the English-language networks in the 10pm hour including CBS, and ABC among adults in the 18-49 age categories.

Season four of this exciting series brings new characters to complement the already successful plotline that over the year has managed to capture the audience’s attention and catapult Amaya to super stardom in the Spanish market.

“It feels good!” said Amaya. There’s a lot of people associated with this beautiful series that has changed my life,” said Amaya. “I feel committed and I feel very grateful and very blessed.”

The success of “El Señor de los Cielos” has inspired parent company NBC Universal into developing an English-language version of “The Lord of the Skies” for the USA network an effort the company hopes will help in cross-promoting content among its properties.

“Developing this hugely popular telenovela allows us to not only showcase the great plotlines and stories that have captured Spanish-speaking audiences in an English-language adaptation, but it gives us the great opportunity to work hand in hand with our NBCUniversal partners at Telemundo,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment.

“El Señor de los Cielos 4” premieres Monday March 28th at 10pm on Telemundo.
