Live Music This Week: April 8 -April 14

Thurs., April 11 – La Santa Cecilia at PAX, $10

Latin Grammy nominated group La Santa Cecilia will be performing live at PAX. The group has a look that immediately stands out, and their genre-bending approach to Latin music is equally as impressive. Cumbia mixes in with some jazz, which is joined by Bossa Nova and other popular forms of Latin music to create something completely new. Originally from LA, the group will be performing in Miami this Thursday night.

Thurs., April 11 – The Tremends at Blackbird Ordinary

After recently performing at the New Times Beerfest, The Tremends will continue their mini tour around Miami with a performance at Blackbird Ordinary. The Miami trio will be taking over the stage at Blackbird’s backyard, playing their own brand of self-proclaimed ‘weird’ rock and roll. The group melds classic rock and roll sounds along with pop sensibilities to create a completely distinct dynamic.

Fri., April 12 – Suenalo! and Foglia at Will Call Miami

Jack Daniels Studio No. 7 has been taking over at different places around the city, and this weekend they take over at Downtown spot Will Call Miami. Suenalo! delivers a fresh yet gritty Latin sound, mixing in influences that can be attributed to all the best things in Miami: Latin, funk, and hip hop. On the other end of the spectrum lies Foglia, a group that has a live band plus a DJ, who hail from Puerto Rico. Between the music of both bands, Will Call delivers another night of amazing music this Friday night.

Fri., April 12 – Jacob Jeffries at The Stage

Fort Lauderdale’s own Jacob Jeffries will be bringing his unique singer/songwriter skills to The Stage. Joining Jeffries is a group of musicians that complete the puzzle that is the Jacob Jeffries band: the heartfelt, personal lyrics over catchy, pop/rocks sounds.  Also performing on Friday is Austin native  Suzanna Choffel, another singer songwriter who is known for her jazzy, indie pop music.
