Live Music This Week: January 6 to January 12

Wed., Jan. 8 – Holy Ship Kick off party!!!, 10 pm, Story Nightclub, $40 - $50

It's only fitting that Miami serves as the port and kick off spot for Holy Ship, a cruise ship dedicated to a weekend of electronic music. Before the ship leaves the 305, it's also fitting that Story Nightclub in Miami Beach hosts the kick off party, with Zedd, Destructo, and Oliver spinning at the party. The party begins this Wednesday night before the ship departs the following morning.

Sat., Jan. 11 – Spam Allstars at The Stage, 9 pm, $10

Spam Allstars combine a little bit of everything to create what they define as an 'electronic descarga'. Their sound, which combines Latin, dub, hip hop, and electronic, is the reason the group has been a prominent force on the local music scene since the early 2000s. This Saturday, they are joined by Latin pop/rock group Odas at the Stage, starting at 9 pm.

Sat., Jan. 11 – Holy Ghost! at Bardot, 11 pm, $16 - $20

Brooklyn duo Holy Ghost have taken synthpop to a new level, ever since the release of their first single “Hold On.” Since then, the duo have released two albums and are also known for their popular remixes of MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, and Phoenix. This Saturday, they grace the carpet at Midtown spot Bardot, starting at 11 pm.

Sat., Jan. 11 – Billy Joel at BB&T Center, 8 pm, $39.50-$119.50

There are few legends who command the kind of respect that Billy Joel does. The singer-songwriter has been on the music scene since the early '70s, with no signs of stopping. The Piano man is on tour and will be gracing South Florida this weekend at the BB&T Center.
