Live Music this Week: January 13 – 19

Wed., Jan. 15 – Problem Kids at Bardot, 10 pm

Gracing the carpet at Midtown spot Bardot this week is Miami group Problem Kids. The group pulls from a variety of influences to create their sound, showcasing some of the best elements of Miami culture in the process. While the band plays a song that combines funk, Latin, and rock, lead emcees Marty and Lish provide insightful and powerful rhymes, making them a local act that can't be missed.

Thurs., Jan. 16 – Nacho Londoño at Freehand Miami, 10 pm
The Miami Beach hostel known for their signature cocktails (Broken Shaker, anyone?) is rolling out a line up of shows with some of Miami's best local talent for The Lobby Sessions. Each Thursday night, a different group will be gracing the lobby with a special acoustic set. This week, Nacho Londoño of Eagle Chief will be serving up a very intimate solo performance at Freehand Miami.

Thurs., Jan. 16 – Laurel Halo at Perez Art Museum Miami, 6 pm
With so many events going on at Perez Art Museum Miami, it's difficult to choose which one to go to first. Their third Thursday music series, however, is quickly leading the pack with each month bringing in a different kind of musical act or DJ to perform. While last month saw nguzunguzu, this Thursday brings Laurel Halo to the terrace by the bay.

Sun., Jan. 19 – New Politics at Culture Room, 7 pm, $20.90

To say “Harlem” is a catchy song would be a gross understatement. The Danish trio behind this infectious track, New Politics, will be bringing their alt rock-meets-dance-meets-pop sound to Ft. Lauderdale this weekend. Opening for the group will be Boston based band Magic Man, and Kentucky group Sleeper Agent.
