Live Music This Week: July 1 – July 7

Thurs., July 4 – IndepenDANCE Beach Party at Nikki Beach, 12 pm, $25 - $55

Nikki Beach celebrates America at its best this week by not one, but two beach parties this week. The first all-day, all-night party will take place this Thursday, July 4 beginning at noon. Spinning live at the event will be Steve Lawler, Victor Calderone, Boris, and The Martinez Brothers – plus many more. The second all day party will be taking place on Saturday, July 6 and will be featuring Sharam, Sander Kleinenberg, Norman Doray, plus other DJs. The party takes place on the beach and goes on until the wee hours of the night, with electronic beats providing a soundtrack for the occasion.

Thurs., July 4 – Red, White, and Blackbird at Blackbird Ordinary, 10 pm

Not only will the Red, White, and Blackbird party have BBQ and a kiddie pool, it will also have a special roster of DJs and live music. Enjoy a popsicle or a drink while listening to the sounds from DJs Contra and Sharpsound. Performing live at the event will be Eagle Chief, a Miami group who used to play under the name of Arboles Libres. This Fourth of July party promises amazing music plus great BBQ provided by Chef Robert – what else can anyone ask for?

Fri., July 5 – Of Montreal at Grand Central, 8 pm, $12 - $15

After having their tour bus break down on their way to Miami back in May, the Georgia group is finally coming back to make it up to South Florida fans. Of Montreal is a group known for their highly theatrical stage show and eclectic approach to indie pop music, which has garnered them attention since the late 90s. Joining the group at Grand Central this Friday is Yip Deceiver, plus a special DJ set from Miami's own Afrobeta.

Fri. July 5 – Solange at Adrienne Arsht Center, 8 pm

While many may know Solange as Beyonce's kid sister, the chanteuse has stepped out in her own light as of late. With five releases under her belt, Solange has been able to craft her own distinct sound. Her most recent EP, 'True', showcases her vocal chops while offering up a funky, pop driven approach to R&B. This Friday night, she graces the stage at the Knight Center at the Adrienne Arsht Center starting at 8 pm.
