Taste of the Americas

Wynwood Kitchen & Bar is launching Taste of the Americas, every Thursday for the next three months, celebrating the signature cuisine of Latin American countries. Beginning Thursday, May 2 Executive Chef Miguel Aguilar will feature specialty dishes from Mexico in May; Peru in June and Venezuela in July. Diners can also indulge on Chef Aguilar’s regular a la carte menu of small plates, meant to mix and match, as well as innovative artist cocktails. In the Now @ Village of Merrick Park

On May 3 and 4, the Village of Merrick Park debuts In the Now @ Village of Merrick Park. The center’s first annual fashion and trend event is designed to introduce locals to the latest collections at Village of Merrick Park, while raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event will include special appearances and trend talks by Nigel Barker, celebrity fashion photographer, former America’s Next Top Model judge and currently the host of The Face on the Oxygen Network. Mercadito Midtown

Mercadito Midtown will host one huge Cinco de Mayo weekend celebration from Saturday, May 4 through Sunday, May 5. The two-day party will feature food and drink specials, an exclusive Cinco de Mayo brunch buffet, specialty cocktails, and live mariachis! The fiesta begins on Saturday, May 4 at 9 p.m., spotlighting Mercadito’s creative menu and unique cocktails. Authentic Mexican mariachis will bring the party to life, entertaining guests during the celebration.

Those that are ready to keep the party going on Sunday can join the restaurant for a special Cinco de Mayo brunch buffet beginning at 11:30 a.m. The brunch buffet costs $35 per guest, excluding tax and gratuity. Reservations for the festivities can be made by calling (786) 369-0430.

Toro Toro

Toro Toro, located at the InterContinental Miami, will celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2013 with two special promotions. Beginning Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5, guests can enjoy spiced up Happy Hour and/or prix-fixe dinner. Kick-off the fiesta during Happy Hour, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with low priced cocktails and bites and stay for a bit to enjoy great dinner specials. Claws for Kids

As stone crab season begins to wind down, you can indulge in a last call while helping the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade at the organization’s 2nd Annual “Claws for Kids” fundraising brunch on Sunday, May 5, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach. You'll feast on delicious stone crabs and other signature Joe’s menu items without the wait. All event proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s state-of-the-art South Beach location. Last year’s event raised $32,500 for the cause. Joe’s will open up its restaurant for brunch on May 5 only for supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s “Claws for Kids.” For more information, contact Astrid H.
