He's housed the hell outta everybody from Tom Tom Club to Daft Punk, Jamiroquai to Madonna. He's floored most of the biggest clubs in the world. And for the last 15 years he's had a run of records so embedded with beats they've made entire countries get up and dance. He's Grammy Award-winning DJ Roger Sanchez, and this Saturday night he and Dutch DJ Sidney Samson bring their The Return of House Tour to Mansion. Wallflowers best stay home.
Wanna tell us a bit about "The Return of House" Tour? I wanted to do a tour to really bring back the house vibe across North America, merging my vibe with a fresh young sound.
This won't be your first time flooring Mansion though, will it? I love Mansion! I do my "Release Yourself" events there and the room is always sexy, full of energy and a hot Miami crowd! Last WMC I previewed my third show there, and it went off! Definitely one of my favorite clubs in the world!
Word is you're bringing along an accomplice? Yes! I wanted a fresh young sound and vibe to complimemnt my sound, and Sidney Samson is just rocking it right now! He's done a wicked remix of my new single "2Gether" featuring Far East Movement and I felt it would be a perfect match to get him in on the tour.
Care to share the details about that Far East Movement remix? We just debuted the video and released the single "2Gether" with Far East Movement and Kanobby and the response is incredible! FEM just had a massive hit with "Like a G6" and this one just keeps the energy going! The timing for this tour couldn't be better!
Who else might we soon hear receiving the Roger Sanchez treatment? Currently I am working on my new artist album and I've been working with people such as K'naan, Sarah Harding, Kaskade, DJ Chuckie, Natalia Kills, Afrika Bambaata and McFly, and I'm working on tracks for Enrique Iglesias and many others. I've also just finished the new single for Maroon 5, and I'm always looking forward to collaborating with more artists!
What's coming up from your label Stealth? We have just release Release Yourself Vol. 10 -- our 10th anniversary edition, and there are tons of new tracks coming soon from artists such as Prok n Fitch, Rene Amesz, Muzzaik, Lex Da Funk, Chris Moody and many others. We are also gearing up for another Stealth Tour and WMC 2011!
This summer you marked your 10th anniversary of spinning Ibiza, where were you
in residence and how did it go? I was on the terrace of Amnesia this year for my 10th anniversary and it was incredible! The energy was off the scales and the crowd was really into it! i had Kaskade, Chris Moody and others playing with me and it went off!
Can South Beach party people expect something equally amazing this Saturday night? Definitely! Sidney and I just finished our first week of the tour and it was crazy! I know Miami will top that!!
