Black Widow Could Be Going Solo After “The Avengers”

If the guys at Marvel are to be believed, Scarlett Johansson may soon have her very own super-hero franchise.

"We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but 'The Avengers' comes first," Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, said yesterday during a press conference hailing the pending arrival of "Iron Man 2" on home video.

There was speculation earlier this week over at The Wrap about who writer-director Joss Whedon would kill off in "The Avengers," and now it appears we can cross Black Widow's name of the deathwatch list. Or could it be that this is all part of some elaborate smokescreen?

We're pretty ambivalent about both Johansson, she's a knockout to be sure, and a pretty good actress, but she's never really carried a movie or enjoyed big box-office success.

That said, there s no shortage of men -- or women, for that matter -- who would happily line watch her gallivant around in a tight black leather blodysuit for 100 minutes.
