Emma Watson Considering “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”

A decade into her career, Emma Watson may be ready to play someome other than Hermione on the big screen.

Watson, who has been in eight "Harry Potter" films, including two that aren't yet out, is eyeing a role in the adaptation of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," to be written and directed by the book's author, Stephen Chbosky.

"Wallflower" tells the story of a teenage outcast who chronicles his life in a series of letters written to an anonymous person. Because of its depictions of homosexuality, offensive language, and sexual explicitness, the book has made the American Library Association's top ten most frequently challenged books of the year five times since its publication in 1999. So that's reason for hope this might be more than your average tale of teen angst.

Logan Lerman, star of "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," is reportedly interested in taking the lead role.

Chbosky has previously written the screenplay for the film version of "rent" and was co-creator of the much loved, but short lived "Jericho."
