New on Home Video: “Robin Hood” No, “Secret in Their Eyes” Yes

This week's new movies on home video include a couple of Oscar winners, a box-office boondoggle, an art-house miss, a few direct-to-video curiosities, a timeless classic and some old-school actioner fluff. Let's take a look at the top 10 new releases of the week...

“Robin Hood” (2010)
Much of what’s wrong with “Robin Hood” could have been solved if they had renamed the hero and his posse and called the film “Magna Carta.” What could’ve been sold as an epic about the first flickers of the rule of law instead comes off as a not-quite satisfying retooling of a familiar legend that leaves one wondering, ”Where’s all the archery?” On Blu-ray and DVD, read our full review and watch the trailer

“The Secret in Their Eyes” (2010)
From Argentina comes the 2010 Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film, a taut murder mystery cum romance that cuts no corners as it moves seamlessly back and forth across 25 years in an effort to unearth the truth behind a horrible crime and the whereabouts of a monster. Call it "Ordinary People 2.0," a film that was considered a searing portrait of suburban ennui, in which the most famous scene features a plastic bag twisting in the wind -- it seemed so deep at the time. On Blu-ray and DVD, watch the trailer
