“The Kids Are All Right” May Be Headed to HBO

With its Odd Couple lesbians, slacker sperm donor absentee father and pair of precocious kids (one of whom is named Laser, no less), the acclaimed "The Kids Are All Right" already had the perfect TV dramedy set-up. It just decided to take the long way there (via the Oscars).

Deadline is reporting that HBO is in talks with director Lisa Cholodenko about turning her movie, which starred Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, and Mia Wasikowska, into an hour-long series. Cholodenko would have a hand in the development as executive producer.

It's extremely unlikely that anyone from the film cast would be involved, seeing as even the "kids" Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson have moved on to prestige film projects. But you never know. It is, after all, not TV. It's HBO. But just to be safe, start your dream-casting now.

Unless, of course, this is all a mistake and HBO is, in fact, looking to turn Jeff Stein's 1979 Who documentary "The Kids Are Alright" into a series...Jason Schwartzman as Keith Moon!
