‘Daily Show' Host Trevor Noah Undergoes Emergency Appendectomy

There's a good reason why "The Daily Show" is a re-run tonight – host Trevor Noah's been in the hospital.

According to a statement released by Comedy Central's press department, the 31-year-old comedian "underwent an emergency appendectomy early this morning." Fortunately, the "procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery."

As a result of Noah's appendectomy, "The Daily Show" "will air an encore tonight," Comedy Central Press noted. But the representatives at Comedy Central expect Noah and the show "will be back with an original episode tomorrow."

NEWS: Get to know Trevor Noah

That's a pretty good excuse for a sick day he's giving up.

The Twitter account for Comedy Central press wrote, "Feel better @TrevorNoah," but the official account of the "The Daily Show" had a bit more fun sending their well wishes.

Noah should come out on the other side of that experienced unscathed, and when he does, he might use his experience in that "American hospital" as source material for the show.

"The Daily Show" with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11/10c.
