When Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take the stage for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards (live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) Sunday night, it'll be a television first.
The pair will make history as the only hosting duo in the big show's history. Their predecessor Ricky Gervais holds the title of being the single solo host.
To promote their new gig, the "SNL" alums have promised an evening that will be "splendid," "wondrous," "drunken" and "a little ghetto." And with stars partaking of dinner and drinks during the ceremony, the Globes have a reputation for being one of Hollywood's more relaxed award gatherings.
Taking that into account, the "SNL" alums are hoping for a little spontaneous fun. "That would be really great, so we're trying to plan that," Poehler quipped during a recent press conference. "We have a lot of spontaneous things planned," Fey added.
Adding fuel to their comedic fire is the fact that Fey and Poehler are also rivals on the night. Both are nominated in the lead actress in a TV comedy category for their work on "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation," respectively.
Add to that the dazzling spectacle of film and television's A-list on the red carpet, Adele making her first post-baby appearance and a presenter list that includes George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Kristen Wiig, Jeremy Renner and Meryl Streep.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has always had a soft spot for historical pieces and this year's list of potential winners is no different with Steven Spielberg's civil-war set drama "Lincoln" leading the award charge with seven nominations, including best director for Spielberg, best drama, best screenplay and acting honors for Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones.
Tied for second place with five nominations are "Django Unchained" - Quentin Tarantino's brutal revenge western, which scored nominations for best drama, director, supporting actors (Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz) and screenplay - and Ben Affleck's Iran hostage-crisis-thriller "Argo,"up for best drama, actor (Affleck), director (Affleck), supporting actor (Alan Arkin) and screenplay.
Other best-drama nominees are Ang Lee's shipwreck story "Life of Pi" and Kathryn Bigelow's Osama bin Laden manhunt thriller "Zero Dark Thirty."

And in the comedy-musical category, "Les Miserables" is the heavy-weight contender set to compete with "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "Moonrise Kingdom," "Salmon Fishing in Yemen" and "Silver Linings Playbook."
The inclusion of "Yemen" - a gentle, comedy of manners from Britain - raised eyebrows when it was announced it would vie for best comedy, as well as acting for leads Emily Blunt and Ewan McGregor. Released in March, the indie, audience-pleasing sleeper has become the unknown quantity in a race of cineplex thoroughbreds.
Changing focus to the small screen, the Sarah Palin biopic "Game Change" racked up five nominations for best miniseries, actor (Woody Harrelson), actress (Julianne Moore), supporting actor (Ed Harris) and supporting actress (Sarah Paulson). Coming in second with four nods was the terrorist plot-based series "Homeland" up for best drama, actor (Damian Lewis), actress (Claire Danes) and supporting actor (Mandy Patinkin).
The full list of nominees for best television drama series are: "Boardwalk Empire," ''Breaking Bad," ''Downton Abbey," ''Homeland" and "The Newsroom." And the contenders for best TV comedy series are: "The Big Bang Theory," ''Episodes," ''Girls," ''Modern Family" and "Smash."
The stiff upper lip of PBS darling "Downton Abbey" received three nominations: best drama, best actress (Michelle Dockery) and supporting actress (Maggie Smith, who also was named to the best actress comedy/musical category for "Quartet").
Among the unscripted acceptance speeches (we hope!) and candid celebrity moments, Robert Downey Jr. will take the stage to present Jodie Foster, a two-time Globe winner for "The Accused" and "The Silence of the Lambs," with Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement.
