Four words horror fans thought they may never hear: M. Night is back.

Shyamalan busted out of the gates in 1999 with "The Sixth Sense," and had popular, if uneven, followups with "Unbreakable" and "Signs." But the director fell out of favor with horror fans after clunkers like "Lady in the Water," "The Happening," and "The Village."

But Shyamalan produced genuine shocks in 2015 with "The Visit" and he's done it again with "Split," a film starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Betty Buckley and a tour de force by James McAvoy... and James McAvoy... and James McAvoy... and James McAvoy.

    Mild spoilers ahead.

McAvoy stars as a man suffering from multiple personalities who kidnaps Taylor-Joy and two classmates in broad daylight and entraps them in a dungeon. The cat and mouse that ensues as the girls attempt to outwit their captor(s) produces genuine shocks that harks back to Shyamalan's earlier works.

We caught up with the cast of "Split" as they discussed the challenges of making the film.
