Tess Boyer, Bria Kelly Ousted From “The Voice” as Voters Pick Top 8

Team Usher and Team Shakira are down to a single contestant each as the competition heads into its final weeks.

The roster of hopefuls on “The Voice” dwindled down to just eight contestants Tuesday, as Team Usher's Bria Kelly and Team Shakira's Tess Boyer were sent home.

That meant that both Team Usher and Team Shakira were down to a single contestant each as the competition heads into its final weeks.

Team Adam's rock artist Kat Perkins had joined Tess and Bria in the bottom three on the live eliminations show, but her final performance of "Ooh La La (Paris)" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals helped earn her another week on "The Voice."

"If you save this girl, she’s going to beat the odds by making it all the way to the end,” her coach had urged fans in a plea to save Kat, who had sung Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" on Monday.

Both performances paid off when Kat was saved in the end, on the strength of her fans' five minutes of tweets for an instant save.

Tess, no stranger to the bottom three, had sung a powerful version of Pink's "Who Knew" in her final attempt to win votes. "I'm devastated to see you up there again," her coach Shakira told her. "You are fire, and you just proved that to us."

Bria had belted out Heart's "Crazy on You" in her last-chance performance, after she had deviated from her typical rock'n'roll persona Monday on a cover of Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You," to mixed reactions from the coaches.

Still, the coaches were rooting for her Tuesday. "If you would have told me that Bria would be in the situation right now, I would have thought you were crazy," said Blake Shelton.

Blake's own team — Jake Worthington, Sisaundra Lewis and Audra McLaughlin — was completely safe, all voted in by viewers this week.

And Kat's save meant that Team Adam was intact, too, with all three members. Christina Grimmie was the night's first contestant to find out she was safe, after performing Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home" the night before. Her teammate Delvin Choice followed her.

But Team Shakira was down to just country singer Kristen Merlin, while Team Usher had been reduced to just Josh Kaufman.

The finals continue next week on "The Voice" on NBC.

"The Voice" airs Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c.
