Matt Damon To Be Honored For His Contributions To Film

Matt Damon, the star of flicks like "The Bourne Identity," will be honored for his contributions to film.

Matt Damon may only be 38 years old, but he is already set to be honored for his life's achievements in film.

According to Variety, the Oscar winner and "Bourne" franchise star will be given the American Cinematheque Award in 2010. The award honors a person who has made a significant contribution to film.

Damon is reportedly set to accept the honor in person at the ceremony, which will air on ABC on March 27.

Samuel L. Jackson was honored in 2008, Julia Roberts in 2007, George Clooney in 2006 and Al Pacino in 2005. There was no recipient for 2009.

Before Damon receives the honor, however, the actor's long awaited film "The Informant!" for which the he packed on around 40 pounds, will be released on September 18.

In the film, based on a true story, Damon plays Mark Whitacre, a vice president who turns whistleblower after discovering his company's price fixing scheme.

He is also bringing to the History channel later this year, "The People Speak," which brings to life readings of the writings of Americans throughout history, performed by stars including Damon and Marissa Tomei.
