"2012" in Development as TV Show

Because ending the world on the big screen just isn't enough, "2012" is getting a TV show.

Roland Emmerich, director of "2012," has spilled the beans about a spin-off TV show conveniently titled "2013."

Now we haven't seen "2012" yet, but it's safe to assume (spoiler alert) some people survive and are up to something in 2013.

Apparently, there is still "plenty to do in a TV show," Emmerich told Entertainment Weekly.

"It is about the resettling of Earth. ...I think it will focus on a group of people who survived but not on the boats … maybe they were on a piece of land that was spared or one that became an island in the process of the crust moving. There are so many possibilities of what they could do and I'd be excited to watch it," Emmerich told EW.

Survivors on an island? Perhaps they should just add some Dharma stations and call it what it is. Even the movie's executive producer Mark Gordon, who's reportedly signing on for "2013," suggested it could be the new Lost.

"(ABC) will have an opening in their disaster-related programming after Lost ends," Gordon told EW. "I think people would be interested in this topic on a weekly basis."

Um, hello? Disaster programming? "FlashForward" hasn't been canceled yet. Plus, if ABC wants another disaster series, they could always bring back "Cavemen."
