Olympic Viewing Guide – Diving Finals, Track & Field, Hockey, BMX and Rowing

June 23: Hurdler Lolo Jones and diver David Boudia take their marks.

The major U.S. Olympic trials are under way through July 2 in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Live coverage of many events can be found on the NBC Sports Network, and selected videos will appear on NBCSports.com. Here's what you should watch today:

The event: Diving finals, men's 10m platform and women's 3m spring

When: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET, NBC

Where: Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

One to watch: In the a men's 10m competition filled with 10s, David Boudia finished the semifinals ahead of the pack with 1083.75 points. He earned 11 perfect 10s throughout the prelims and the semis to lead Nick McCrory (second place) and Thomas Finchum (third) heading into tonight's final. 

What happens: The diver who scored the highest points following the final will go to London.

The event: Track & Field: men's and women's 400m (semifinals), men's 1,500 (decathlon); women's 100m hurdles (final) and women's 100m (final).

When: 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET, NBC

Where: TrackTown USA in Eugene, Ore.

One to watch: Can hurdler Lolo Jones live up to the hype? All eyes will be on Jones in the 100m hurdles following her numerous magazine cover stories and television program appearances in which she discusses her decision to live a chaste personal life. Talking aside, it will be the performance on the day that matters.

What happens: The top three athletes in the 100m hurdles will qualify to make the Olympic team and journey to London.

The event: Women's field hockey (exhibition match).

When:  1.30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports.

Where: National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va.

Ones to watch: All of them! The 16 player roster for the 2012 Olympic Games was announced on June 11. Seven of those named make a return to Olympic competition including U.S. captain Lauren Crandell from Doylestown, Pa. The team began their final preparation for the London Games on June 18 when they began a four game test series against Argentina in Virginia. After tonight's final game there will be a celebration to formerly recognize and celebrate the team.

What happens next: The U.S. team will open pool B of the Olympic Women's Hockey competition by facing off against Germany on Sunday, July 29 at the Riverbank Arena venue in London's Olympic Park.

The event: Rowing and BMX cycling

When: 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network

Where: Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. (rowing) and the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. (BMX)

Ones to watch: Coverage of trials for both sports. The rowing and BMX teams have already been named. Rowing: The U.S. Olympic team is coming off a three-medal performance during the 2008 Beijing Games and will look to recapture that glory in London. Rowers named to the team include Ken Jurowksi (men's single sculls), Sara Hendershot and Sarah Zelenka (women's pair) and Silas Stafford and Tom Peszek (men's pair). BMX: The five-person racing team which will represent the U.S. in the 2012 London Games in the BMX cycling events are David Herman, Connor Fields, Nic Long (men's) and Arielle Martin and Alise Post (women's). Final selections were made Saturday June 16.

What happens next: The rowing team will compete at the Eton Downey Rowing Center at Eton Lake located 25 miles west of London. BMX made its Olympic debut in 2008 and features one elite men's and one elite women's event with races held on a circuit of approximately 350m located within London's Olympic Park venue. Eight riders will compete in each heat with the top four qualifying for the next round.
