An 18-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot in Liberty City Monday morning, officials said.
Miami Fire officials confirmed the unidentified man was transported by ground to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
Miami Police said the man was shot in the stomach during a drive-by shooting at 7 a.m.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene on a dark grey 4-door SUV, possibly an Infinity, police said.
At least two nearby homes were hit with gunfire, though no other injuries were reported.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho visited the student shot Monday.
“This last week has proven to be one of the bloodiest weeks in our community for children,” Carvalho said, with seven shootings since last Wednesday.
