Three people are facing numerous charges after they stole several guns during a vehicle burglary in the Florida Keys, authorities said Tuesday.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the victim called Monday to report that 16 rifles, shotguns and handguns were stolen from his RV in Stock Island. Also missing were a cross bow, a laptop computer, a flat screen television and a large amount of various types of ammunition.
ATF agents joined the MCSO in the search for the weapons, which led them to a trailer at the Water's Edge Trailer Park where an undercover operative bought guns from 33-year-old Jermaine Roberts, authorities said.
Authorities later stopped a white Nissan on Summerland Key and found three of the stolen guns inside, as well as 35 plastic bags of heroin and over $3,100 in cash, the MCSO said.
Andrew Riley, 19, of Cutler Bay, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, dealing in stolen property and trafficking in heroin. Romanique Williams, 18, of Miami, was charged with dealing in stolen property and trafficking in heroin.
Roberts was charged with eight counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and dealing in stolen property.
All three were booked into jail and were being held without bond Tuesday, records showed. It was unknown whether they have attorneys.
Five of the stolen guns haven't been recovered. Authorities are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to call 1-800-346-TIPS.
