3 Dead After Plane Crashes Into Jacksonville Pond

A Cessna C310 crashed Sunday evening "after making a missed approach" to Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport.

Authorities say three people are dead after their small plane crashed into a Jacksonville pond.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the Cessna C310 crashed Sunday evening "after making a missed approach" to Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport.

Bergen says the flight had three people on board when it departed St. Lucie County International Airport in Fort Pierce for Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda tells The Florida Times-Union that airport officials told police that the pilot couldn't see the runway.

Bujeda says the bodies of one man and two women were recovered from the retention pond.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash.
