FLORIDA A&M UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS ARE ABOUT TO LEARN IF THE SCHOOL WILL BE OFF PROBATION.

A regional accrediting organization in December 2012 gave FAMU officials a year to fix problems at the school. If accreditation is revoked, students won't be eligible for federal financial aid. The accrediting organization is expected to vote Tuesday on FAMU's status. FAMU got probation after the university was criticized on several fronts, including whether students were safe. This finding came in the wake of the hazing death of a drum major.

NOAA: 11 WHALES FOUND DEAD SUNDAY IN FLA. KEYS WERE EMACIATED, SHOWING SIGNS OF MALNUTRITION

Necropsies performed on the 11 pilot whales found dead in the Florida Keys show that they were emaciated and suffering from malnutrition, federal officials said. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration stranding coordinator Blair Mase said the whales' empty bellies could be a result of disease or of being out of the deep, cooler waters that form their natural habitat.

2 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING EXAMS TO SELL TO OTHER STUDENTS

In a statement issued late Monday, officials said FIU police had arrested two current students and a third person on charges that include dealing in stolen property and theft and burglary. Officials say "one class in the current semester is impacted with a limited number of students involved." No further details about the arrests or the exams were released.

 3 OFFICERS INJURED IN MIAMI-DADE SHOOTINGS, 2 SUSPECTS KILLED AFTER MASSIVE SEARCH AND CONFRONTATION WITH POLICE

Three officers were injured in separate shootings in Miami-Dade Tuesday morning, setting off a massive police search and confrontation that ended with two suspects dead. One of the Miami-Dade officers was shot in the abdomen and was in surgery early Tuesday. The other two were shot in the arm and all were expected to be okay, police said.

MIAMI-DADE SCHOOLS POLICE LOOKING FOR MOTHER AND TWO CHILDREN

Miami-Dade Schools Police are asking for the public's help in finding a woman and her two children. Police said they need to locate 42-year-old Rebecca Rincon and children Robert and Deja Torres, according to a Monday night news release.
