Two Miramar schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning as a precaution after an altercation nearby, school officials and police said.

Perry Elementary and Middle schools at 3400 Wildcat Way were placed on lockdown shortly after 9 a.m. because of police activity, Broward School Board officials said.

Miramar Police said the lockdown was ordered because of an altercation nearby that didn't involve students. The details of the altercation were unknown.

The lockdown was later lifted around 10:15 a.m.
