Osner Louis, 29, was shot and killed with his own weapon by the man authorities say he was trying to rob

The armed robbery suspect who was shot and killed with his own gun after a struggle with his intended victim in Pompano Beach had a lengthy and violent criminal past, authorities said Wednesday.

Osner Louis, 29, died following the deadly encounter with a resident at the Conch Key Villas at 421 Northeast 1st Street Tuesday morning, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Man Denied Bond in Miami Lakes Murder Case

The resident told detectives he had just arrived home around 5:15 a.m. when he encountered Louis near his garage. The two struggled and the gun fired, killing Louis.

Authorities believe Louis was there to rob the resident.

Miami Beach Dispatcher May Be Fired After Delayed Rescue Call

Detectives are still looking for a dark-colored car witnesses said they saw leaving the scene. The car is described as a black, newer model Nissan, Mazda or Acura.
