Man tries to yank chain from man's neck at Pompano Beach store

    Surveillance video shows a would-be thief try to rip a gold chain from a man's neck inside a Pompano Beach Walgreens. (Published Tuesday, Sep 17, 2013)

    Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a man who tried to rip a gold chain from the neck of another man inside a Pompano Beach store.

    The incident happened back on July 29 at the Walgreens at 1101 E. Atlantic Boulevard, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.


    According to the BSO, the victim, 58-year-old Sandor Kobler, was standing by the sliding doors reading the newspaper inside the store when the suspect suddenly grabbed at the gold chain around his neck.

    Surveillance video shows the suspect repeatedly pull on the chain as Kobler tried to hold onto it. The suspect finally gave up when a witnesses intervened.


    The suspect is seen getting into his car and driving away from the scene.

    A $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
