An Aventura pickpocket has been arrested after her crimes were caught on camera, and now police are looking for her accomplices.

Luz Mary Munoz, 29, was arrested for third-degree grand theft after she was caught on surveillance cameras stealing wallets inside the Aventura Mall, Aventura Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Goranitis said Tuesday.

According to Goranitis, the video shows Munoz working with a man and woman to swipe wallets from unsuspecting shoppers. She was caught with the help of the video.

Munoz may be part of a much larger ring that has performed similar crimes at other area stores.

"It's highly probable that she was working with two individuals on those days and we also strongly believe that they're part of a much larger ring that's committing these types of crimes all over at different retail establishments," Goranitis said.

Goranitis said police are doing their part to fight the crimes but urged shoppers to take precautions.

"When you go shopping, make sure that you're always aware of your surroundings, keep your items close to you," he said.

Anyone with information on the thieves is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
