BSO Observing Moment of Silence for Slain NYPD Officer

Officer Peter Figoski killed in the line of duty last week

The Broward Sheriff's Office will observe a moment of silence Monday for a New York Police officer killed in the line of duty last week.

Officer Peter Figoski, 47, was killed last Monday while responding to a call of a robbery in Brooklyn. The decorated NYPD veteran left behind four daughters.

The BSO's moment of silence will begin at 11 a.m., when the funeral for Figoski is set to begin.

"At every BSO memorial service we mention any line-of-duty deaths that have occurred across the country," Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti said in a statement. "It’s important to recognize their sacrifice and it reminds all of us that public safety work is both rewarding and dangerous."
