Authorities are investigating after a man's body was found in the ocean near the Hillsboro Inlet at Pompano Beach Tuesday morning.
The body was found by a fisherman around 8:30 a.m., according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said they are trying to determine the identity of the victim and cause of death.
Detectives said diving equipment was attached to the body and the gulfstream could have brought him to Pompano Beach.
"It's difficult to locate people in the water, so we're thankful that fishermen happened upon this body, and that it was floating and that our dive team could retrieve it, that they could find it," BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said. "The ocean is a big place."
