Bond Increased For Miami Mom Accused Of Trying to Sell Baby

Bond at $25,000 for mom who tried to sell 8-month-old son

A judge increased the bond of a Miami mom accused of trying to sell her 8-month-old son to $25,000 on Tuesday, as two men wrangled in court over who should get custody of the child.

Kenia Quiala Bosque, 30, is facing an adoption violation charge after her arrest Sunday.

Authorities say Bosque, of Hialeah, had arranged to meet a Monroe County man in Miami on Saturday to exchange the child for the money.

When the Monroe County Sheriff's Office received a tip about the transaction, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arranged to have an undercover agent be at the baby handoff. Authorities said the FDLE has four recorded conversations with her and the undercover officer.

But after Bosque failed to show up, and fearing for the child's well-being, deputies and agents went to her home and had enough evidence to make an arrest, authorities said.

Bosque was booked into Miami-Dade County jail and made her first court appearance Monday, where she told a judge she doesn't have a job and gets $650 a month in child support.

Her two other children were placed into the custody of relatives, authorities said.

At a dependency hearing, it was revealed that the father of the two older children is the legal father of all three children because he is still married to Bosque. So, he has temporary custody of the children along with his current girlfriend.

During that hearing, the baby's biological father, who is married to another woman, was told he has no rights to the child at this point. He wants custody of the child but was told he needs to take a paternity test as an initial step.
