Cane fans celebrate before the Georgia Tech game last week, which propelled them to the ninth spot in this week's Associated Press poll.
The Miami Hurricanes have historically excelled when the world has doubted them.
This year is no different.
After entering the season unranked and predicted to lose their first four games, the Canes are now ranked No. 9 in the latest Associated Press poll after beating the last two ranked opponents.
It's the first time they broken the top ten since 2005.
But this is no time to breathe easy. They face Virginia Tech next week in Blacksburg and Oklahoma at home the following week, which are ranked 11th and 10th respectively.
But if they win those games, then they should be poised to be a main contender for the national championship. And it will be just like old times.
The Canes are ranked 13th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.
The Florida Gators remain in the top spot in both polls and the Florida State Seminoles are respectively ranked 18th and 25th in the Associated Press and Coaches poll.
