Children Safe After Father's SWAT Standoff

Standoff at Miami home ends peacefully

A mom and two young kids are safe after police say a domestic dispute sparked standoff with SWAT officers in Miami Monday morning.

The standoff began around 3:15 a.m. at a home in the 7800 block of Northeast Bayshore Drive after police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance.

Police said a man and woman had been arguing all night before the woman called police. When officers arrived, the man, who was armed, remained inside the home with his 10-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son.

The mother and another child, her 18-year-old daughter, were able to escape.

After several hours, the man surrendered around 7 a.m. The children were unharmed and weren't threatened, police said.

Police haven't identified the man or said what, if any, charges he'll face.
