Cop Impersonators in Southwest Miami-Dade Home Invasion

Three men wearing police insignias broke into home: Authorities

Police are investigating after a trio of police impersonators invaded a handicapped man's Southwest Miami-Dade home at gunpoint early Friday.

Miami-Dade Police say the robbers broke into the home in the 30900 block of Southwest 195th Avenue between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. as the victim, who uses a wheelchair, was sleeping.

The thieves, who were wearing police insignias on their shirts and hats, ransacked the home and stole several items before fleeing the scene, police said.

The victim, who didn't want to be identified, said he awoke to a gun to his head.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
