Cops Looking for Man Who Sexually Assaulted Teen in Metrorail Station

Police say suspect followed teen boy into bathroom, sexually assaulted him

Miami-Dade Police are looking for a man they say sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy inside the Allapattah Metrorail station.

The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on April 13 at the station at 3501 NW 12th Avenue.

Police say the victim left a train and went into the bathroom, where the suspect followed him inside and the sexual assault took place.

On Wednesday, police released a sketch of the suspect, who is described as a black male, 30-40 years old, with a heavy build, dark complexion, medium Afro, and short salt and pepper beard.

Metrorail passengers said Wednesday they were disturbed by the news and that there should be more security at stations.

"That is crazy. I have a 4-year-old little brother, I would kill somebody who tried – I don't even let him ride the bus," Corenthia Hartfield said.

"Pretty disturbing, I mean especially in broad daylight, hearing something like that happening is terrible," said Sami Siven.

Stephanie Garcia said there need to be security people "upstairs and downstairs."

Passenger Gloria Williams promised to be vigilant, saying, "I will be on the lookout, I really will, because I have a child and I wouldn't like that to happen to my child."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
