A family nabbed an iPad from a mother and son who were eating lunch at a McDonald's at 5986 S. Flamingo Rd. in Cooper City, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Broward Sheriff's detectives are now looking for the suspects that took the iPad from Kay Martin, 42, and her son Justin, 10, on Oct. 26.
Deputies said surveillance video shows an unidentified man sitting down next to the iPad, picking it up and heading back to his a table where a group of people were sitting. He and a woman can be seen speaking intently for a minute before the group got up and left with the iPad in hand, BSO said.
The man, two women, one of which appeared to be pregnant and children left in a silver SUV, according to officials.
“I thought I had it, and I searched the garbage can that I thought I threw it away (in),” Justin said of his iPad.
He said he asked people all over the restaurant if they had seen his device, including in the bathroom.
“I asked all the people in McDonald’s, and they said no,” he said.

The 10-year-old said he was really upset “because it was my favorite present ever.”
