Deputy Hospitalized After Woman Refuses to Move Car at Fort Lauderdale Airport, Scuffles With Cops: BSO

Woman arrested after argument over parked car at airport turns violent: BSO

One deputy was hospitalized and another injured after a woman who refused to move her car at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport got violent Sunday, authorities said.

Omolola Modupeola Dawodu, 36, was arrested on charges of battery on an officer, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

She was being held on $1,825 bond Monday and it was unknown whether she has an attorney.

According to a BSO arrest affidavit, Dawodu began yelling and cursing at a security officer who had asked her to move her car from the curb at the airport.

When a deputy arrived and ordered her to mover the car, Dawodu became "verbally argumentative" and said she was not going to move her "f---ing car," the report said.

The deputy said he would have to tow the car and she told him to "go ahead and tow it," the report said. But when the deputy opened the car's door, Dawodu pushed him and said "don't touch my f---ing car or I'll kick your f---ing ass," the report said.

The deputy tried to take Dawodu into custody, but the Maryland woman, who is listed at 5-foot-4 and 230 pounds, resisted and a brief struggle ensued, the report said. Dawodu and the deputy fell to the ground as a second deputy came to assist, the report said.

After a prolonged struggle, the deputies were able to take Dawodu into custody, the report said. One deputy had to be taken to a nearby hospital with a possible dislocated right shoulder. The other deputy was treated at the scene for a laceration to their finger.

When deputies searched Dawodu's purse, they found a plastic baggie containing marijuana and two joints, the report said.
