Elderly Woman Struck and Killed By Bus in Aventura

Woman was walking home from grocery store when she was hit by Miami-Dade County bus: Relative

An elderly woman who was walking home from the grocery store was struck and killed by a Miami-Dade County bus in Aventura Thursday night, relatives said.

The incident happened at 199th Street and Northeast 29th Avenue. Miami-Dade Police later identified her as 84-year-old Barbara Rubenstein.

According to the Rubenstein's son-in-law, who didn't want to be identified, she had been watching a movie at Aventura Mall and stopped at a grocery store before she was struck by the bus about a block from her home.

He said he had spoken to her Thursday afternoon but became concerned when she wasn't answering her cell phone.

"I'd been trying to reach her and I saw the lights," the man said. "I asked if there was a pedestrian involved, they said yes. They had her license."

Two Stabbed in Miami-Dade During Family Dispute: Police

Miami-Dade Police are investigating the incident.

Miami-Dade Transit officials said no one on the bus was injured in the accident but gave no other details.
