The Florida Highway Patrol is increasing its presence along interstates this Independence Day holiday weekend.

An increased number of FHP personnel, including FHP Auxiliary and Reserve troopers will patrol interstates and other major state roads from July 1 to July 4 at midnight.

“Our troopers will take appropriate enforcement action on those drivers who put themselves and others in danger,” FHP Director Colonel David Brierton said in a statement.

FHP will be on the lookout for traffic violations including not wearing seatbelts. Patrol units will also be providing roadside assistance.

Drivers should dial *FHP (347) to contact FHP to report an aggressive driver or request assistance.
