Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to Fight Human Trafficking

Florida's top prosecutor is enlisting businesses in her efforts to crack down on human trafficking

Florida's top prosecutor is enlisting businesses in her efforts to crack down on human trafficking.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is set to host a workshop with business leaders in Orlando on Monday. She says businesses are uniquely positioned to spot labor exploitation in their supply chains.

Bondi is emphasizing employee training, particularly in the construction, trucking and hospitality industries. Key signs of human trafficking include the withholding of passports or other documents and failure to pay wages.

The attorney general's office says human trafficking is a $32 billion industry that exploits men, women and children through sex or forced labor.

In 2011, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center ranked Florida third in the number of calls received by its hotline.
