Florida GOP Prepares for Crucial 2014 Elections

Florida Republicans are gearing up for the crucial 2014 elections.

The Republican Party of Florida is holding its annual meeting this weekend. Both Gov. Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi are scheduled to speak.

Republicans have controlled the Florida Legislature and governor's mansion for much of the last two decades. But Democrats consider Scott vulnerable, since he has had lackluster poll numbers during his three years in office. Former Gov. Charlie Crist, who was elected a Republican but is running as a Democrat, is one of the leading candidates challenging Scott.

Republicans, however, plan to use Crist's support of President Barack Obama and the president's health care overhaul against him. They also say they will point out Crist's "failure" to help the state's economy during his term.
