A central Florida man is accused of fatally beating his sleeping father in the head with a sledgehammer after a night of "playing puzzles."
Holly Hill police say 33-year-old Vinayak Shanbhag was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder.
Officers were called to the home Saturday morning to assist on a medical call. They found Shanbhag sitting on a couch with his mother. Police found Panduran Shanbhag in a pool of blood with a bloody sledgehammer nearby.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports Shanbhag's mother said she had heard her husband coughing but didn't think anything of it because he had a cold. They slept in separate bedrooms.
The son told police his father said something that upset him while playing puzzles and he decided to attack him.
