Florida Man Shot At By New Facebook Friend

Christopher Harris says he arrainged a meeting with a new Facebook friend he thought was a woman -- and met a bullet and a tree instead

File this under stories Facebook isn't likely to elevate to its controversial new 'top stories' section: a Florida man says he was shot at by a person who set him up by pretending to be a woman on Facebook.

"I don't even like Facebook," Christopher Harris told Jacksonville's WJXT. "I was on Twitter and then I go back to Facebook for two days and this happens to me."

Harris told WJXT that he set up a meeting with a new Facebook friend he believed to be a woman, but on arrival found a man at the end of a dead-end road.

The man pulled out a gun and fired, Harris said, sending a bullet into his car door -- so Harris said he threw his car into reverse and sped backward, hitting a fence and barrelling into a tree.

"I'm glad I watched James Bond yesterday," he told WJXT. "I just threw it in reverse and got out of there. I'm mad I hit a tree, though. I really wish I didn't hit that tree."

Harris called police, but says when they checked the person's Facebook profile it had been deleted.

"I'm not going back to Facebook, I'm staying on Twitter. Stuff like that don't happen on Twitter," he said.
