Florida Woman Charged With Murder in 3-Year-Old Granddaughter's Death

Police have not said how the young girl died.

Tampa police say they have charged a woman with first-degree murder in the death of her 3-year-old granddaughter.

Yanelli Vasquez died Dec. 13. Police say that before autopsy results were released, Carida Lissettes Cobb attempted suicide by taking a large amount of pills.

Police arrested Cobb on Friday night after she was released from a hospital. According to a statement Saturday from police, Cobb's account of the girl's death did not match the autopsy results.

Police have not said how Yanelli died. Additional details about the case were not immediately available.

Cobb was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse. She was held without bond Saturday. Hillsborough County jail records did not show whether she had an attorney.
