Officer who died during Obama's trip to West Palm Beach being laid to rest

Funeral services are being held for an officer who died while leading President Barack Obama's motorcade.

More than a thousand police officers from across Florida and from Georgia, Virginia and Washington, D.C., are expected to participate Friday in services for Bruce St. Laurent. He died after being hit by a pickup truck Sunday while attempting to shut down a stretch of Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach, where Obama was traveling for a campaign stop.

The funeral is being held at Christ Fellowship North Campus in Palm Beach Gardens, followed by burial in Tequesta.

Gov. Rick Scott has ordered some flags at half-staff in St. Laurent's honor, and the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is to be illuminated in blue.
